Nuclear-Capable Agni-IV Missile Tested Successfully

Friday, Jan 02, 2017 India successfully test fired the nuclear-capable strategic ballistic missile Agni IV today. The launch came exactly a week after India tested the Agni-V, the country's longest range nuclear capable missile. The missile was successfully launched from Kalam Island off Odisha coast. India has a battery of nuclear capable missile like, the Agni series, Prithvi series and the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile. Agni-IV, which is a nuclear capable missile, has a range of over 4,000 kilometres. The Agni-V, which was tested last week has a range of over 5,000 kilometres. Both missiles are capable of covering most parts of China.
The Agni-IV missile, which is about 20 metres tall and weighs 17 tons, was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Abdul Kalam Island, formerly known as Wheeler Island, at around 12 noon.
This was the sixth trial of the Agni-IV missile. The previous test was conducted on November 09, 2015. This fire and forget missile is navigated using a jam proof ring laser gyroscope. The re-entry heat shield can withstand temperatures in the range of over 4,000 degrees centigrade and makes sure the avionics function normally with inside temperature remaining less than 50 degrees centigrade.
Agni-IV missile is equipped with 5th generation on-board computer and distributed architecture. It has the latest features to correct and guide itself for in-flight disturbances. The sophisticated surface-to-surface missile is equipped with modern and compact avionics to provide high level of reliability.
With the most accurate ring laser gyro-based inertial navigation system (RINS) and supported by highly reliable redundant micro navigation system (MINGS), the Agni-IV ensures the vehicle reaches the target within two-digit accuracy.

PSLV-C37 Rocket With Record 104 Satellites Aboard Launched at Sriharikota

Feb 15,2017 The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the PSLV-C37 rocket with 104 satellites on board, creating a new record for the most satellites on a single rocket. This is the latest triumph for the famously frugal space agency, which earned plaudits from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee for the feat.Scientists gathered for the ISRO launch in the southern spaceport of Sriharikota burst into applause as the head of the space agency announced all the satellites had been ejected.

"My hearty congratulations to the ISRO team for this success," ISRO director Kiran Kumar told scientists who had gathered at the observatory to watch the progress of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket. PM Modi immediately congratulated the scientists for the successful launch of 104 satellites by ISRO, which smashes a record previously held by Russia.
The ISRO PSLV-C37 rocket took off at 9:28am (3:58am GMT) and cruised at a speed of 27,000 kilometres (16,777) per hour, ejecting all the 104 satellites into orbit in around 30 minutes, according to the space agency.
The ISRO rocket's main cargo was a 714 kilogram satellite for earth observation but it was also loaded with 103 smaller "nano satellites", weighing a combined 664 kilograms.
Nearly all of the nano satellites aboard the ISRO PSLV rocket are from other countries, including Israel, Kazakhstan, The Netherlands, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and 96 from United States.
The ISRO launch means India now holds the record for launching the most satellites in one go, surpassing Russia which launched 39 satellites in a single mission in June 2014.

That was Australian Open 2017....Roger, Serena and upsets aplenty...

Bangalore, January 30,2017

Men's fnal for championship:
In a stunning match befitting of the occasion, Roger Federer defeated long-time rival Rafael Nadal to win Australian Open 2017, his 18th major title. The 6-4 3-6 6-1 3-6 6-3 victory handed Federer his first major title in four-and-a-half years. The win also gave Federer his first win over Nadal at a Grand Slam event since Wimbledon 2007, and was his first-ever victory over the Spaniard in Australia.
After an epic final for the ages, the pivotal moment came in the eighth game of the final set. One match point came and went, but on the second, Federer struck a winning forehand. Nadal challenged the call, but in vain. While the Hawk-Eye technology went in Roger Federer's favour, it totally ruined the eruption of joy which is possible only when there is a climax to a high-intensity rally.
