Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud won Grammy song of the year. "We wrote it on a couch in my house," he said of his hit song, which also won him best pop solo performance. It was the first time Sheeran won a Grammy. YSwift's '1989' won album of the year, while Sheeran's hit song 'Thinking Out Loud' bagged the song of the year Grammy. Hip-hop star Lamar won five awards. Taylor Swift kicked off the Grammy Awards with a performance of her latest hit single, Out of the Woods, from her album 1989 which also won the album of the year Grammy.
Lamar won best rap album for his second album, To Pimp a Butterfly. It was the first award televised on Feb 15, Monday. "Hip-hop, Ice Cube, this for hip-hop, this for Snoop Dogg ...this for Nas. We will live forever, believe that," said Lamar, who also won best rap song, rap performance, rap/sung collaboration and music video earlier in the day.

Rihanna pulls out
R&B superstar Rihanna canceled her Grammys performance at the last minute due to bronchitis. The singer, who was to sing 'Kiss It Better' from her recent release Anti at the 58th annual awards ceremony, has been advised to give her vocals rest for 48 hours, Billboard reported quoting her representative.

Anoushka Shankar loses
Home: a pure Indian classical album that showcases the meditative and virtuosic qualities of the Indian raga. After releasing several experimental and crossover albums, including the Grammy-nominated recordings Rise, Traveller and Traces Of You, Anoushka returns to her classical roots, paying homage to the teachings of her father and guru Ravi Shankar.
Anoushka was born in London and her childhood was divided between London and Delhi. She is the daughter of Sukanya Shankar and Indian sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, who was 61 when she was born. Through her father, she is also the half-sister of American singer Norah Jones (born Geetali Norah Shankar), and Shubhendra "Shubho" Shankar, who died in 1992.

As a teenager, Anoushka r lived in Encinitas, California, and attended San Dieguito High School Academy. A 1999 honors graduate and Homecoming Queen,Anoushka decided to pursue a career in music rather than attend college Home features two ragas, one of which is a creation of Ravi Shankar's, and with them Anoushka shares an intimate, heartfelt live performance in the traditional style. Indian classical music is not written down, but has been improvised and passed down through an oral tradition for centuries; Home is a paradigm of this genre, exemplifying the unique dichotomy between the ancient structure and in-the-moment improvisations. Home is self-produced by Anoushka, and on it she strove to record the ancient instruments at an unprecedented, "high-definition" quality, working with a team of experts to design a studio in her own home that would be uniquely suited to the timbre of her instrument.
Sitarist Anoushka Shankar once again lost in the World Music category at the Grammys while Indo-British director Asif Kapadia registered a win in Best Music Film section for his documentary "Amy". Anoushka, 34, was nominated in the Best World Music Album category for her solo album 'Home', a pure Indian classical album. A tribute to her late father Ravi Shankar, the song featured two ragas.Anoushka, who was nominated in the category for the fifth time, lost it out to Angelique Kidjo for "Sings".
